What is the Tabu 2.0

We launched the original Tabu in 2015. It instantly became a hit with LUNA fans and especially with the ultralight backpacking crowd. Barefoot Ted had originally found the design in a factory museum of a famous traditional Japanese tabi company in Tokyo. He said “I want this!” 

They made it for us from 2015-2019 on 100 year old German sewing machines and 80 year old workers… and finally they told us they would not make them anymore. Cut to last year. Our new Japanese family owned licensed LUNA manufacturer took on the challenge to reintroduce the Tabu.

We call it the Tabu 2.0… and it is definitely better than the original.

How better? The materials and quality have gone up, a more water-resistant outer nylon shell with an amazing inner shell made of a newly created Japanese fabric made from Washi Paper threads… making it extremely hydrophobic allowing the foot to feel dry and warm even when the booty is wet.

The Tabu 2.0 is designed to be be worn with your LUNAs with or without socks… and can make a great camp shoe after a long day of hiking. Be the first to experience year round LUNA satisfaction regardless of the weather.

Take your LUNAs out for 30 days and use them the way you actually will. Trail miles, river crossings, the walk for coffee, a whole day on your feet. Get them dusty, get them wet, put real ground under them. There is no mileage limit and no keep-them-pristine clause.
