My second pair of lunas - my first (oso flaco original) are still going after over 1000 trail miles. The updated “wings” might allow the webbing straps on these to last even longer, we’ll see! Best sandals I’ve ever worn, hands down.
It took a bit longer to break these sandals in than the last pair (non-winged style purchased 4 years ago) due to the wings and the fact that my navicular tarsal bones stick out further on my feet than most peoples. This was my biggest concern with trying the winged edition. I've found with other sandals with wing like components that my bones rub against them and it becomes very painful. However, after only a week of breaking in my new sandals they felt great and comfortable. Now they are just like my last pair of Luna's -- the most comfortable sandals I've ever worn! I also will say that I really like the padding on the back of the sandal (also a newer addition to the latest models). Thanks Luna, I can't say enough good things about your sandals. Everyone should have at least one pair!
I bought the Oso's for heavier duty work around the house including landscaping. These tough sandals work great. I don't feel any pressure points through the soles when digging with a shovel. Great substitute for work boots it this situation.
I took these on a week-long rafting trip in the Grand Canyon and they were great. They were perfect for transitioning from water, to raft, to camp. I also did a fair bit of hiking and climbing over/up rocks, and I was impressed with their grip and stability. By the end of the week, the regularly-wet strap rubbing on the top of my foot was starting to hurt, but that felt normal and like it would improve with further breaking in and less-constant wear.
