I ordered a pair of Milk Chocolate Monos a couple of years ago. While they looked superb for business casual activities and were super comfortable standing still, I couldn't walk very far without the leather ribbon bow knot loosening or even falling apart. The buckle replacement fixed the problem. While this is certainly not a DIY undertaking, any competent shoe repair person can perform the buckle replacement. I live in Mexico, and my neighborhood shoe repair guy charged $3 USD for maybe 30-45 minutes of work.
I bought some Lunas (Mono 2.0, Origen 2.0, Leadcat) with leather laces before the buckle was introduced. While I liked the look of the traditional bow closure, I always had some issues with the knot loosening over time. With the new buckle, the laces stay tight and in place. Also, a big thank you for sending me the buckles to Spain instead of asking me to send you my sandals!
