After a couple of years of trying zero-drop running shoes, I switched to these and loved them almost immediately. I say "almost" because I had to figure out the most comfortable lacing setup for me -- it took me several times of running, but after that, I never had to adjust the setup. I have ran three marathons (including an Ironman distance triathlon) with this model so far, and started thinking about switching to Retro Mono, which is a slightly thinner version of this, just for a more direct feeling. I tried the Winged version, but in my experience, this Retro lacing are better when I wear them on bare feet. The rubber/plastic pieces of the winged version chafe my feet. So please keep the retro models!
the Mono Gordo quickly replaced the minimalist shoe I was wearing. I have always used running sandals as more of a strength trainer because of the low cushion that usually has me running slower. Because of the thick sole I'm running just as fast in these as I do in my road flats. The velcro strap makes these things very stable and secure. Highly reccommend this product for road and non-technical trail use.
My first sandals were Leadvilles but when I chased my twelve year old on his bike, my calves kinda hurt. Leadvilles are still my fav, but I got the Retro Mono Gordos for chasing my little monkey . Now I use each for specific terrain. Leadvilles are awesome on trails but require a slower pace on hard surfaces. Gordos are thicker but allow for a faster pace on hard surfaces. Happy running all \m/
