The LUNA Original comes with our custom made 1/2" elasticized leather laces - craved by LUNA fans from years past. The Original's footbed top is covered with the creamiest tan suede leather, and it's sole is our famous Vibram USA Venado sole. Barefoot Ted here. Back in 2020 when Liv and I were quarantined in the LUNA Factory in Seattle for 8 weeks at the beginning of the pandemic, I had a lot of time to look through all our old stock of materials. What I found was super exciting. Firstly, I found A LOT of our original-style suede footbed material… a creamy soft and super comfortable suede leather that many will remember from the earliest days of "The LUNA Sandal Company". The problem with the suede was that is was not ideal for wet and muddy situations and we needed to find something that could handle the “real world” and suede was not ideal for that. However, when it comes to cool comfort in a summer lifestyle sandal, suede cannot be beat. It’s so cool and comfortable, this sandal will become an instant favorite for going out on a date night, shopping, rocking your vacation-style and even… in low doses, exercise and light running. Added to the suede was the discovery of one of our earliest attempts at coming up with an easier to use lacing system. For a lifestyle sandal, the ½ inch elasticized leather laces that we had custom made for us are more than good enough. So many LUNA fans complained when we took them away. Cut to today. I found enough elasticized leather lace at the Factory to make about 45 pairs of slip-on style sandals. Put all these together and we’ve once again created a seriously limited edition special summer lifestyle sandal that harkens back to some of our earliest sandal experiments almost 15 years ago.
