Full disclosure, I bought these sandals from another site for a greatly reduced price. Sorry Luna. I love you, but your footwear is on the the pricey side. I've been running in minimal footwear for about 7 or 8 years now. I've ran in almost every iteration of Vibrams Five Finger shoes, Merrell Trail Gloves, Merrell Vapor Gloves, Amazon knockoffs of the Merrell Vapor Glove, and Xero Shoes Prios. With each brand of shoe, my foot has essentially blown out the side of one or both shoes well before the sole wears out. This is either due to poor construction (enter the Prios...I've gone through two pairs), or the shoe doesn't accommodate my wide foot (the Merrells don't offer a "wide" version of the Vapor or Trail Glove). Also, I feel as though my feet have only gotten wider over the years running in minimal footwear. The idea of running in sandals has always appealed to me, especially during the sweltering Midwest summers that are only meant to be endured by humanity. Also, during the summertime, I'm more likely to grab a pair of flip flops instead of a pair of tennis shoes. I'm generally more comfortable barefoot or in sandals. The hangup for me concerning the purchase of running sandals has ALWAYS been price. I ran in the aforementioned footwear because I could get them on sale at either half or almost a third of the price of a pair of Luna sandals. As an aside, I'm still somewhat perplexed as to why a pair of running sandals costs so much, and I'm not just picking on Luna. Xero Shoes, Shamma Sandals, and Earthrunners are all comparable in price. I actually cut up a piece of tire I found on the side of the road to make my own pair of sandals with paracord to avoid the cost, but I was too lazy to fully execute the project. I've researched running sandals for years, and jumped at the chance of buying Lunas when I saw them heavily discounted. After the first two runs, I was experiencing the rubbing from the wings that other reviewers have mentioned. I was a little discouraged, but I decided that maybe my feet needed to adjust to wearing the new footwear as a helpful Luna representative suggested. To anyone that is experiencing the rubbing, ADJUST THE HEEL STRAP. It occurred to me that my foot was too far back in the foot bed, and I adjusted the heel strap to push my foot forward. I ran 10 miles a couple of days ago without ANY rubbing. I think that some may find the discomfort they're experiencing is resolvable after making some minor adjustments. After 30 miles in these, I'm feeling pretty confident about the construction and quality of the product. Most importantly, the running experience is immensely enjoyable. My feet are free, and there's no canvas to bust out of. P.S. The Luna moon logo sticker is the ONLY bumper sticker on my car right now.
I absolutely love these sandals! They are so versatile. Great to wear at the beach, on runs, hikes or just casual wear. They are super comfortable and fit perfectly to my feet. Would definitely recommend!
The sandals took a while to get to Nairobi and when they did, they looked so tiny. But the fitting was just right!! I have tiny feet Enjoying the run around in them so much and will be taking them for my Sunday long runs in Karura Forest very soon! They are light but strong, just perfect for all activities.
